If you’re trying to go on vacation, Boston should your choice if you like cold weather and snow. Well, it’s not always cold but, Massachusetts definitely is pretty cold for about 7.5 months out of the year.
In Massachusetts, we have all four seasons; winter, spring, summer, and fall. Each season is supposed to start and end on a certain day of a month but, it doesn’t. Winter starts in December and is supposed to end in March, but it usually ends in mid April.
That means we don’t get Spring until May once the snow decides to stop. It actually kind of goes from Winter to Summer. Then there’s fall, my favorite season. Fall starts in September and lasts until December but living in Boston, it lasts about a month because it sometimes starts snowing in October.
What I am trying to say is that winter may dominate in Massachusetts but the other seasons still get a chance to shine.
Winter
Living in Madrid this past winter, everyday felt like spring! I didn’t have to go through a snowstorm for the first time in my life. Winter in Massachusetts is pretty hectic. Some days the temperature is 30° and others, it drops to the negatives. That’s because It snows a lot and there’s a lot of water around the us.
Throughout winter, we probably have two major snowstorm and the city and business basically shut down. School gets cancelled and some people can’t go to work. But it’s not all that bad because with schools cancelled, people still have fun! Parents will throw snowballs or make snowmen with their kids in the yard or they’ll take them to a park to go sledding! Theres also ice skating downtown.
Also, the snow can look very pretty when it covers the parks. It’s not all bad but, I’d definitely prefer being indoors, drinking hot chocolate and watching a movie.
Spring
Spring is almost nonexistent in Massachusetts. Spring starts in March but, it still snows and is very cold. Once the snow stops, it turns into rain and hail.
The warm weather doesn’t start until May and even then, it’s still limited. But, they’re very appreciated. To have one day with sun, and not have to wear a jacket is wonderful.
When we do have those warm days, everyone is outside at the parks, eating ice cream and soaking up the sun.
Summer
Summer is definitely my favorite season after fall because my birthday is in July and I can finally go to the beach.
Summer in Massachusetts is great! People are nicer, the streets are bustling, and the amusement parks are finally opened. The weather normally stays in the mid to high 80s and sometimes can get up the mid 90s and become really humid.
But, that doesn’t stop the fun. My family and I normally go to Water Country, a water park in New Hampshire and go camping! Camping and hiking are probably the most popular activities that everyone does at least once before summer is over.
Fall
Fall in Massachusetts is beautiful. The leaves are changing colors, pumpkin spice is back on the menu and it’s almost Halloween!
Fall is my favorite season because the weather is still warm but with a slight a breeze. You can take all your cute, comfy sweaters out and that’s all you’ll need.
Boston also has a ton of fun events going on for the holidays such as scary Halloween tours and thanksgiving parades.
